inpiration inspired

This weekend hubby inspired me as he completed the NYC tri.
I was also VERY inspired by the blind athletes and the para athletes. Seriously - I saw this image a whole bunch and I was thinking how amazing their spirit must be.

My younger sister has started running. My older sister emailed me asking how long it would take me to run 3 miles. She wrote back saying that she was walking x amount of miles in y amount of time and she felt if she trained she felt she could do a 5k. My brother in law was down and watching hubby prep for tri, he txted me saying he was inspired and rode 15 miles yesterday and was doing 20 today.

I have always taken inspiration from others. In various ways, people and places. Never have I felt that I inspired anyone. I truly hope that the little push I may have given others turns into a positive and healthy journey.

My sisters both have said that they would run a 5k race with me, and I believe my brother in law is in as well. I would love this !!!

Who inspires you ? Who have you inspired ?
ps - that is not my husband or someone i know in the photo, i borrowed it from the nyc tri page.

  1. Just seeing this photo inspires me. So amazing.

I get so much inspiration from other runners/bloggers and I find QUOTES to work wonders on me.

I've inspired three sisters of mine to get moving & that makes me happy.

    Great post!

  2. I went out on Saturday to meet the blind athletes as they got ready to go on their warm up ride in Central Park. I also got to meet their guides and the director of CDifferent.org. It was so cool to then see them out on the course the next day competing.

I know last year a friend of mine was inspired by my commitment to do my first HIM so he went and signed up and completed the NYC Marathon. My husband started running (until his bum knee couldn't take it anymore), my 4 year old son always wants to 'train' with me. Another non sport blogger I know locally got in touch with my coach to start running again. It is amazing how it spreads like wildfire. It's all good!

  3. My daughter told me she was inspired by me at my last race to do a triathlon. I wanted to cry right there on the spot. We now ride our bikes together 3 days a week :)

Every year I run a race called Women of Steel. It is an all women sprint tri. This past year as I was headed back to my car with my bike, I was at the point of about 50 yards left in the race and a woman with no hair was crossing the finish line. She was between chemo treatments for breast cancer. I stood in awe and saw all the people both one she knew and just spectators cheering her on. I keep that metal picture in my head when ever I don't want to get out and train or when I think my workout it too hard. I don't even know her name but she inspires me everyday.

  4. I would love to run a 5k. I exercise everyday and lift weights but I know that is not the same as running.

My son and husband run all the time, I would love to be able to keep up with them. Any suggestions on trainging for a beginner?

  5. Fantastic post! I am moved by the stories in the comments section too! When I see what some people go through just to get to the starting line, I quickly forget about my troubles and am truly grateful just to be there!
