Hair Analysis

I was just on the phone with a friend of mine and we were catching up. We starting discussing health and how the food we eat can effect us. She mentioned that she had her and one of her son's hair analyzed to tell her what they were intolerant to. I meet a woman at the gym who is a nutritionist and her website said she did this. I am really curious about this. It seems crazy that a piece of our hair can provide this information. Is it real ? Could it really help ?

I want to do it, for myself and for my daughter who has been diagnosed with OCD. Anything that might help her is worth a try. I mean imagine if you found out that eating tomatoes is not the best thing for your system, would you die from them - NO, hives NO but maybe they make your insides swell and you feel gross ? So taking them out of your diet would help you feel better. I hope it wouldn't be tomatoes b/c i love them !!!

Anyways just wondering if any of you have done this, heard of it ?

  2. I have not heard of this. Is it expensive to do? Does insurance cover it? I think it would be something to do if you had a family health issues that could be hereditary.

  3. soccermom - i hear it is about 250 and insurance does not cover....i started researching and of course there are 2 camps of thought, that there is NO way hair can tell what a person is allergic to and it is voodoo waste of money and other camp, swear it worked miracles .......

  5. I haven't heard of the "hair test" but I just saw an advertisement this weekend for a nutritional clinic back home that runs tests to see what kind of foods are hard on your body. A lady did the test and found out that she is somewhat lactose intolerant so any foods with dairy can affect her overall feeling. She has changed her diet because of this and ended up losing 8 pounds already. Very interesting.

that is how this works,it is more about what just doesn't work with your body, my friend said it gives you a number of 1 to 4 and if you are a 4 you should NOT (meaning you will feel crappy) eat that food but a 1 makes you aware

  7. This is not uncommon. It is a nicer way of having allergy testing done. I am going through a bunch of testing to see why my metabolism is so sluggish. Still waiting for results.
